Using 802.11 and Zaurus Outside the Office

With the Zaurus, you can browse the Internet and get email through wireless Internet connections available in different public locations. Using 802.11b technology and your Sharp Zaurus with a CompactFlash wireless LAN card, you can view email, browse the web and connect to a corporate LAN* all at high-speeds.

Different public 802.11b services are available to use by the minute or with a monthly subscription plan. One such service is T-Mobile HotSpot. T-Mobile HotSpot is available in thousands of locations across the country such as airports, airline clubs and Starbucks® coffeehouses. You can use your Zaurus to connect at the speed of a T1 connection available in every HotSpot.

Here's what you need to use the T-Mobile HotSpot service:

1. Your Zaurus needs to be 802.11b wirelessly enabled with a CompactFlash wireless LAN card. If you don't have one, you can find out how to get one here: LAN Cards

2. When your device is wirelessly-enabled, you will need to set your Specific ESSID to 'tmobile' in your wireless LAN card driver software. You'll find this in the Wireless LAN Settings area from the Settings tab on your Zaurus.

3. Sign up for a T-Mobile HotSpot service plan. As a Zaurus customer, you can receive a 300 minute free trial with any service plan you select.

Now you're ready to go. You can visit any of the thousands of T-Mobile HotSpot locations, launch your browser, log-in and get connected. It's that simple.

For a complete list of T-Mobile HotSpot service locations, please visit the HotSpot Locations Page.
