This high performance GPS receiver is designed specifically
for use with the Sharp Zaurus family (SL-6000, SL-5600, SL-5500, SL-5000D,
SL-C700, SL-C750, SL-C760, SL-C860). This is the only GPS receiver that
plugs directly into the Zaurus I/O port minimizing the need for extra
cables and adaptors. Just plug in the GPS receiver and the MHPower adaptor
(shown) or the AC power adaptor, (or other Zaurus compliant external power
adaptor) and your Zaurus will receive an accurate stream of NMEA data
for use with your favorite GPS software.
The GPS receiver requires external power be applied to the Zaurus operate.
This powers both the Zaurus and the GPS unit.
The Zaurus GPS receiver supports WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System)
for highly accurate measurement.
When the Zaurus GPS receiver is plugged into the Zaurus SL-6000 it will
prevent the keypad cover from being closed unexpectedly. Seasoned SL-5x00
users will immediately recognize the value of this feature.
Works with virtually any GPS software that takes a NMEA data stream including
GPSGaugeLite software (free with a SerialPort license) and qpeGPS.
This GPS receiver comes with a generous 9 foot cable allowing use with
virtually every vehicle configuration. Shown below is a Zaurus SL-6000,
GPS, MHPower adaptor.
The GPS receiver has a magnetic base that provides stability in a moving
environment, when attached to a metal surface.
